Be alert of potential scholarship scams. Any scholarship asking for a deposit is not considered a bona fide scholarship. Some private companies will request a deposit, which in some cases can be a reduction in a housing payment, or a “searching” fee for scholarships that students can pursue on their own without paying a fee.
