Terry Transfer Scholarship FAQ

The Terry Transfer Scholarship is intended to provide scholarships at $18,000 to outstanding transfer students for a three year award period. In selection of transfer students there are several variables that will be reviewed, transfer GPR, extracurricular activities, employment and community service.

Students transferring into Texas A&M in a fall semester are eligible to apply and be considered for this scholarship.

  • Be admitted by May 1st as a transfer student to Texas A&M University-College Station for the fall semester in a degree-granting program for the purpose of completing your first baccalaureate degree,
  • Must be 20 years of age by May 1 of the year in which you are applying,
  • Be a US citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.,
  • Be a Texas resident,
  • Must enroll full time each semester (minimum 12 hours) at Texas A&M attending all classes in person,
  • Must have completed at least 30 transferable hours,
  • Must be a graduate of a Texas high school or equivalent,
  • Must submit the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FASFA) by March 1,
  • Cannot be transferring from another Terry institution,
  • Cannot have previously interviewed for the Terry Scholarship,
  • And cannot have received a degree from an institution outside the US.
To apply for the Terry Transfer Scholarship, students should complete the ApplyTexas Transfer Application or the Coalition Application for Admissions and Scholarships. The deadline to submit the admissions and scholarship application for the Fall term is March 1. Please complete the admissions and scholarship portion of the ApplyTexas Transfer Application first and then the scholarship portion of the application. This will allow for your information to pre-populate on the scholarship application. In order for you to be considered for the Terry Transfer Scholarship, you should complete all questions on the ApplyTexas Transfer Application for admissions and scholarships, submitting both when complete. If selected for further consideration, Texas A&M University will contact students with requests for further information.
You must complete and submit the ApplyTexas Transfer Application or the Coalition Application for both admission and scholarships by March 1.
You must also be admitted by May 1st as a transfer student to Texas A&M University-College Station for the summer or fall semester in a degree-granting program for the purpose of completing your first baccalaureate degree. 
All students who are selected as Terry Scholarship recipients are REQUIRED to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
The Terry Foundation will contact potential Terry Transfer scholarship recipients for interviews.
No, you must be a Texas resident to apply for this scholarship.
Yes, as long as you were home schooled in Texas and completed home school in Texas.
Yes, you can be considered if you are admitted or will attend Texas A&M at Galveston. For more information on the TAMUG Terry Foundation Scholarship Program, please visit tamug.edu/finaid/Scholarships/Terry.html.

You must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPR and a 2.0 semester GPR at Texas A&M. Recipients will have the Terry Transfer Scholarships renewed if they continue to meet the stated criteria until you receive your first baccalaureate degree, or upon completion of six semesters as a three-year recipient. Terry Transfer Scholarship recipients who do not maintain a minimum 2.0 semester GPR will be immediately terminated. You are not eligible to receive your scholarship if you are on conduct probation with the University.

Additionally, Terry Transfer Scholarship recipients must attend a fall orientation and a scholarship advising meeting each semester, and part of a Terry Transfer Learning Community.
You may receive that scholarship along with the Terry Transfer Scholarship, so long as the Scholarships & Financial Aid awarded scholarship is less than $2000 annually, otherwise the Scholarships & Financial Aid awarded scholarship will be forfeited.
No, Terry Transfer Scholars are not required to live on campus.
