It’s because of this that we have developed a program for local high school and college students that provides them the opportunity to follow their dreams of seeking higher education. Lapeze & Johns Scholarship

Qualifications: The Lapeze & Johns Scholarship is available to any current U.S. high school students, regardless of race, color, gender, national origin, religion, sexual orientation or disability. Applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.0+ on a 4.0 scale and must be planning to enter an accredited four-year university after graduation.

Entrants are asked to create a PSA or an essay that highlights the complications and dangers of the provided topics, as well as how to address and prevent the issues in the future. These topics are: Depression, Bullying, Sexual Activity, Drug Use, and Alcohol Use.

Be alert of potential scholarship scams. Any scholarship asking for a deposit is not considered a bona fide scholarship. Some private companies will request a deposit, which in some cases can be a reduction in a housing payment, or a “searching” fee for scholarships that students can pursue on their own without paying a fee.

  • Complete the application in full. Note if something is not applicable on the application. Do not leave items blank.

  • Neatness counts. Make photocopies for working drafts.
  • Make sure your essay leaves an impression. Be personal and specific in your essays. Include concrete details. (Remember that the special circumstances essay is optional but highly recommended.)
  • Watch all deadlines. Have a self-imposed deadline two weeks prior to the actual due date. Use this as proofreading time.
  • Give it a final “once over” before you submit your application. You and another person should proofread the entire application carefully.
  • Ask for help if you need it. If you need to, do not hesitate to call the funding organization.
  • Take steps to make sure your application gets where it needs to go. Make a copy of the entire packet and keep it for your files. Make certain that your name appears on all pages.
